Pair of Chippendale mahogany side chairs, likely American, with serpentine crest rails, splat formed from four vertical bands, molded ears and stiles, slip seats with striped upholstery, and straight molded legs with fret carved brackets. 38 1/4" H x 20 3/4" W x 18 1/2" D. 19th century. Provenance: The estate of Jean A. Yeatman and Harry C. Yeatman, formerly of Hamilton Place Plantation (near Columbia, Tennessee). CONDITION: Looseness to joints on both chairs, revealing dowel construction. Some seat corner blocks replaced or missing. Losses to carved fret brackets, with one bracket missing. Scattered general wear and abrasions.
