Thirteen (13) Middle Tennessee court documents. Includes one (1) 1797 Wilson County document regarding appointment of Daniel Mosley of Buckingham County Virginia as guardian for "Peter Hale the Orphan". One of the earliest child welfare cases in the newly formed state of Tennessee. Also includes three (3) documents related to an 1807 summons and complaint against Theophilus Bass of Wilson Co., who "made youse (sic) of a stray roan horse," one of which bears the signature of Samuel Barton, one of the signers of the 1780 Cumberland Compact; plus three (3) documents related to an 1806 Wilson and Sumner County case of a horse theft; one (1) 1807 warrant for David London; three (3) 1857 documents related to alleged threats against John Saunders of "Saunders and Jackson's store" in Lebanon by Zarel Watkins; one (1) Nashville, Mero District document signed three times by early Davidson County court clerk Randal McGavock (1803) and one (1) Sheriff's deed and survey regarding property owned by Thomas Bradley of Wilson County, 1814.
CONDITION: All items overall good condition with light toning and discoloration, a few items with separations at fold lines.
