David Guyce LeDoux (Louisiana/Tennessee, 1926 – 2010), "Field / Fences," large oil on canvas abstract painting rendered in bright primary colors with black and white accents. Signed en verso of stretcher. Old label containing title, date 1993 and original price. Narrow whitewashed wooden frame. 54" x 44" Sight, 55 7/8" x 45" Framed. Biography: Louisiana-born artist David LeDoux was known for his abstract expressionist paintings, which he created in four series: the black period (1985-1990); the red period (1990-1995); the violet/purple period (1995-2000); and the blue period (2000-2004). LeDoux was a graduate of Louisiana College and Louisiana State University, and also did doctoral work at Ohio State University. Following his service as a Naval Aviator and World War II veteran, he came to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 1956 to teach drawing and painting in the Art Department at MTSU. He retired in 1994 after 38 years. A commemorative exhibit of his works was held in 2016.
