Governor of Tennessee Samuel Houston (1793-1863) signed land document granting Joseph Roper 38 acres of land in Lincoln County, dated May 5, 1827 and numbered 8269. 15"h x 11 3/4"W. Float mounted on a white mat in a woodgrain frame, 24 1/2"H x 20 1/2"W.
CONDITION: Not examined out of frame. Separations and losses at fold lines, including a 3/4" area of loss affecting the "S" in Houston's signature. Dampstaining to center. Foxing, fading, and toning throughout.
