Group of nineteen (19) marbles, including sulphide and contemporary. 1st-6th items: Six (6) handmade transparent swirl marbles, including five divided-core marbles, each with 3 to 4 inner bands and white or yellow outer latticino bands; and one 3-stage solid core. All with ground/faceted pontils. Ranging from 1 1/8″ to 1 1/2″ dia. Likely German, early 20th century. 7th-8th items: Two (2) Sulphide marbles, lamb and lion figures. 1 1/2″ and 1 3/8″. 9th item: Peppermint swirl. 5/8″. 10th item: Small divided core. 1/2″. 11th item: Solid-core swirl marble, white core. 15/16″. 12th-16th items: Five (5) latticino swirl marbles, including one orange. Ranging from 1 1/16″ x 5/8″. 17th-19th: Three (3) contemporary marbles, including one transparent ribbon swirl with pinch pontil; one Joseph’s coat; one blue and black latticino, possibly machine made. Each 7/8″. All items likely 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Most with wear commensurate with use. Minor chips, dings. Clouding to some surfaces. Lion sulphide possibly polished.
