1st item: Early Kentucky broadside, AMERICAN OIL, advertising a "celebrated oil from a well near Burksville, KY" with a reputation for curing numerous diseases in people and horses, apparently sold by Trabue, Reed and Hall of Burkville (sic) Kentucky. Housed in a period, but not original ebonized molded frame with gilt rabbet edges. 13 1/2" H x 8 1/4" W sight, 16 1/2" H x 12 5/8" W frame. 2nd item: Group of 12 sixth plate tintypes, each with different style of gilt mat, housed in an antique gold leaf frame with wooden mullion style dividers. Identity of sitters is not known. 14" x 16" overall. Condition: 1st item: Broadside is not glued down and is loose in frame, exhibits toning overall and 1/2" stain to left margin. 2nd item: One pane of glass does not fit well (likely replaced) and has spotting underneath; images are in good condition. Some oxidation to mats and significant wear to original gilding on frame; 1" loss to left rabbet edge of frame.
