Caio Fonseca (New York, b. 1959), "Pietrasanta P.09.30," oil and/or gouache on paper abstract painting featuring blue serpentine forms and lines, speckled in orange and red paint on a pale yellow field, with raised and incised lines throughout. Signed "Caio" lower right. Inscription en verso with artist name and date 2009, title, medium, and dimensions with Pamela Morgan framing label. Float mounted in a simple white wooden frame. Sight: 29 5/8" H x 41 5/8" W. Framed: 34 1/8" H x 46" W. Biography: Caio Fonseca was raised in New York City, but studied and practiced art in Barcelona until 1983 before moving to Pietrasanta; he now divides his practice between his studios in Pietrasanta and Manhattan. His work has been included in numerous public and private exhibitions and collections, including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and more.
