Two Marc Chagall (French/Russian, 1887-1985) Bible prints including one (1) etching and (1) color lithograph. 1st item: A Chagall etching entitled The Vision of Ezekiel depicting a scene from Ezekiel I: 4-14. Ezekiel occupies the lower area of the print and envisions angelic figures, including two with the heads of a rooster and goat–two of the artist's signature motifs. Signed in plate lower left. With Montval watermark lower right. From the edition of 295 signed in the plate. Housed under glass in a carved giltwood frame with cream linen mat and gold fillet. With Chagall biographical printout, Bible series informational printout along with artist's name, artwork's title, and old inventory number in pen. Circa 1952-1956. Sheet: 17 1/2" H x 13" W. Plate: 13" H x 10" W. Frame: 31" H x 28" W. 2nd item: A original Chagall color lithograph entitled Sarah and Abimelech and depicting a scene from Genesis XX:1-18 with vivid red, blue, and green tones. En verso is another original lithograph in black depicting a hand and arching line (Mourlot 262). From the original edition of 6500 unsigned impressions published by Verve, Paris, 1960. With London Grafica Arts label and framer's sticker on backing. Housed under glass in a metallic frame with cream mat. Sheet: 14" H x 10 1/4" W. Frame: 10 1/2" H x 14 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Condition is good, with some burn outside of plate mark, not visible in frame. 2nd item: Condition is excellent with rich blacks and vibrant colors.
