Henri Baptiste Lebasque (France, 1865-1937) Post World War I poster titled “L’Emprunt de la Paix” (The Peace Loan), printed by Maquet, GR., Paris, ca. 1920. Depicts a mother nursing a baby as a female child reads a book in the foreground with a flowering bush to the left, set against a scene of men building a structure and plowing a field with farm animals having boats in a body of water before several industrial buildings with smoke stacks in the middle and background. Signed “Lebasque” and titled, lower center, in the image, with printer’s mark, lower left, outside the image. Housed under plexiglass in a giltwood frame with an off white linen liner. Sight: 43″ H x 30 1/2″ W. Framed: 48 1/2″ H x 35 1/2″ W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall toning with waviness to sheet. Not examined outside of frame.
