John Held Jr. (American, 1889-1958), “Outlines of Sports,” 1930, limited edition set of twelve (12) framed Art Deco era lithograph illustrations of men and women engaged in various sports including hunting, horse jumping, tennis, fly fishing, golfing, cross country skiing, parachuting, sailing, polo, boxing, waterskiing, and chess. Numbered 66/100 and signed “John Held Jr.” in ink on title plate (now pasted en verso of the golfing illustration). Published by Duttons, New York, 1930, as a boxed set. These images have been framed in identical faux burlwood frames. Each sight: 10 5/8 in. H x 11 1/2 in. W. Each frame: 12 1/2 in. H x 13 1/4 in. W. This lot is accompanied by two books: The New Yorker 25th Anniversary Album 1925-1950 and The New Yorker Cartoon Album, 1975-1985. Note: John Held, Jr. was a frequent contributor to the New Yorker as well as many other great Jazz Era periodical publications.

A Nashville, TN estate.
CONDITION:
Overall very good condition with some toning, particularly to the sailing illustration. Box no longer present. Wear to book covers.
