Collage of artifacts related to future President Abraham Lincoln's Illinois law office and law partners, all framed in a shadowbox setting. Includes clipped autographs of John T. Stuart (Lincoln's first law partner, signature dated 1876); Stephen T. Logan (signed summons, dated 1834); and William H. Herndon (taken from one of his law books); a clipped 1857 front page ad for Lincoln's Law practice from the Daily Illinois State Journal newspaper; and a piece of oak lathing removed from the law office of Lincoln and Herndon in the Tinsley building at 6th and Adams Street in Springfield, Illinois. Also includes reprints of photographs of the law office and of Lincoln and his partners (image of Logan is a lithograph, likely taken from a book), with biographical and historical information sheets. Frame: 35 3/4"H x 43 3/4"W.
PROVENANCE: Elizabeth Ozment for the estate of Elliott Ozment, Nashville, Tennessee. Ozment was a leading Civil Rights and Immigration attorney in Nashville and former State Legislator.
CONDITION: All period paper items with toning. Stuart signature has tape residue; Herndon has foxing. Some dings and wear to frame edges. Otherwise, the collection is in overall good condition.
