2 pieces Sunderland pink Lustreware. 1st item: Jug or pitcher with polychrome nautical ship decoration, depicting a sailor on one bank and his love on another, with the verse "Home is a name of more then (sic) magic spell, whose sacred power the wanderer best can tell…" on one side and on the other a sall ship vignette with shorter verse, "On boards and broken pieces toss'd, and death each hour at hand, yet through our pilot none are lost but all come safe to land." Approx. 8"H. 2nd item: Rare Sunderland pink lustreware toby jug, unmarked, 5-3/4"H. English, late 19th century. Accompanied by 1984 receipt from Nathan Liverant and Son. Condition: 1st item: staining to handle, small rim and spout chips, hairlines. 2nd item: minor wear to gilding at rim and foot areas and top of spout.
