Cabinet card albumen photograph of Civil War Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Joseph E. Johnston, taken in the spring of 1870 during what came to be known as Lee's "farewell tour". At least three (3) photographs of the two in various poses were taken by D.J. Ryan at his Savannah studio; this photograph shows Lee at right with pen in hand, while Johnston looks on. Identifier names are written at bottom. Card 6 1/2â€Â x 4 1/4â€Â.
PROVENANCE: By descent from the estate of Stanley Horn, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Foxing, smudging to lower card, 4 pin holes with one in image upper left, pencil notes on reverse.
