Native American Cherokee double weave rivercane basket, square form woven in natural weavers. 11 1/4″ square x 6 1/4″ H. Late 19th century. Note: For a similar form, refer to “Weaving New Worlds: Southeastern Cherokee Women and Their Basketry”, by Sarah H. Hill, illustrated on page 115.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition, with minor staining to the base interior, and a couple of weavers to the rim with loss.
