BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF THE SEAT OF WAR, 1862, Civil War lithograph map published by Louis Prang & Co., Boston. Depicts key sites of the conflict including Washington, Baltimore, Harper's Ferry, Richmond, Manassas Junction, Ft. Monroe, Norfolk Harbor, and their railroad connections as well as "the General Surface of the Country in Maryland, Dist. of Columbia & Virginia." Matted but not glazed, in a narrow gold metal frame. Image: 13 1/2" H x 19"W. Sight: 16 1/2"H x 19 1/2"W. Frame – 22 1/4"H x 23 1/4"W. Note: we can find no other examples of this lithograph having sold publicly.
CONDITION: Edges of the print have been folded over and scotch-taped to a thin cardboard backing. Spots of foxing and discoloration to lower margin. Chipping and tape residue to lower edge. Faint line of dark residue, possibly mildew, to lower margin surrounding title. Scattered light creases and scattered spots of light colored discoloration to map area. Losses to left margin including a 5"tear to the left edge, extending into the image.
