19th century Folk Art pastel portrait of a prize Tennessee cow, titled " 17th Rose of Richland at 21 Months, Bred by and the Property of Mark S. Cockrill, Richland Farm near Nashville, Tennessee." Signed C.B. Easley. 13 1/2" x 19 1/2" sight, 16 /1/2 x 22 1/2" in antique giltwood frame. Provenance: the estate of Sarah Hunter Hicks Green, formerly of Historic Devon Farm, Nashville, Tennessee. CONDITION: 1" tear and some water damage to lower edge, partially affecting lettering. Two 1/16" holes affecting cow's upper back. Frame regilt with some cracks and small losses.
