1st item: Native American, possibly Crow, leather doll cradle having flared head board with beaded bands at top. Thread sewn and beaded overlay on cradle cover, hood with weavers and fringed on back. 12 3/4″ H x 6 1/2″ at widest point. 2nd item: Stitched awl case, possibly Crow, comprised of rawhide and beaded in yellow, red, cobalt with beaded flap and leather strap. 8 1/4″ H x 3/4″ W. Late 19th century. Provenance: Property from the estate of Dorothy Louise Luhrs, PhD, (1910-1972), Archaeologist with University of New Mexico/School of American Research Field School, whose studies and research included the Una Via Chaco Canyon, NM, Largo Canyon, NM, Guatemala, Mexico, and the Hoopa Indian Reservation in northern California. Luhrs was also president of the Southwestern Anthropological Association from 1950-51. Condition: 1st item: Cradleboard is in good condition and shows expected wear with minor loss of beads to top right edge of board. Minor loss to leather on right side of cradle cap or cover. “Crow” written en verso of board. 2nd item: Awl case is in good condition with minor bead loss on flap.
