Two (2) Native American Cherokee rivercane shopping or market baskets, rounded rectangular form with walnut and bloodroot dyed weavers woven in a zig-zag pattern with central fixed wooden handles. Larger: 15 7/8" H x 16 3/4" W x 9 3/4" D. Smaller: 10" H x 10 1/8" W x 6" D. Both items 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Hawkins County, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Both with minor wear to weavers commensurate with age. Larger basket with minute scattered breaks to weavers and minor scattered losses, primarily around handle.
