Two watercolor coastal landscape paintings by Carl Sublett (Tennessee, 1919-2008), one depicting a sailboat on water – absent sails and the other of a coastal landscape, both signed and dated lower right "Sublett '80". 1st painting measures 10" X 13" Sight, 17-1/2" x 20" in narrow silvered molded frame, 2nd painting measures 10" x 13" Sight, 18" x 21" in narrow giltwood molded frame. Carl Sublett studied Art History at the American Academy in Florence, Italy after World War II, and became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Tennessee. Sublett was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, The Tennessee State Museum, and Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville. Provenance: the estate of Helen B. Patterson, Gallatin, Tennessee. Condition: Very good condition.
