Signed lower left in the work ÒJo. Pennell and dated 7-82. Featured on page 905 of The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine: Volume 25 in the article ÒVisiting the Gypsies by Charles G. Leland. Published January 1, 1883, by The Century Company, New York. Pencil inscription lower right reads ÒTe Tan te wardo(I see a smoke, a tent, a wagon) Ð Gypsies and Tents and the wagons. See letter from page 8_ along with other numbers. Image: 9 7/8_ H x 12_ W. Framed: 12 5/8_ H x 16_ W. Provenance: The estate of Joan Dearden, Johnson City, Tennessee.
