German Character doll, Gebruder Heubach, bisque socket head and composition hip and arm-jointed body, squinty eyes and smiling mouth with tongue behind two teeth, braided hair. Marked on back with "Germany", "2" and a sunburst mark over GH. Textured cotton shift dress, brown stockings and beaded shoes along with straw hat. 11"H. Circa 1915. Provenance: Estate of Frances R. Van Winkle, Knoxville, TN, daughter of Elsie Schmidt Jachowski, collector and past president of Dollogy Club of Washington, DC. Condition: Some light grime to face and body, dress yoke has come detached in back and part of dress has been re-sewn.
