Two (2) Middle Tennessee graduated split white oak buttocks baskets by Ida Pearl Davis (Cannon County, TN, 1921-2007) and her daughter Thelma Davis Hibdon (b. 1942). Includes: one (1) "1/2 Bushel" basket and one (1) "1 1/2 Bushel" basket, both having wide woven rims and centers and ribbed construction. Both signed and dated "Ida P. Davis Woodbury, TN./Thelma 'Davis' Hibdon/1995" to underside of handles. Both include original retail tags with size and artist information. 1/2 Bushel basket: 16 1/4" H x 20 1/2" W x 14 1/2" D. 1 1/2 Bushel basket: 18 1/4" H x 25 1/2" W x 18 1/4" D. Note: "Davis was descended from makers in several prominent basket families in the Short Mountain area. Like many of her age-peers, she learned as a girl, became inactive as an adult while doing textile plant work, then returned to the craft as later years brought new appreciation for it.
