German Simon & Halbig Oriental doll with bisque head incised "S & H 1199" with oriental features, painted black eyebrows, painted upper and lower eyelashes, dark sleeping eyes, and a black mohair wig. Jointed composition yellow-toned body attired in oriental style dress and sash. 13" H. Circa 1900. Provenance: Estate of Frances R. Van Winkle, Knoxville, TN, daughter of Elsie Schmidt Jachowski, collector and past president of Dollogy Club of Washington, DC. Condition: Some slight grime to face. Wear and slight losses to one foot. Overall very good condition.
