1st item: Southwestern Native American pictorial coiled basket, straight sided bowl form, with six human effigy figures. 4 3/4" H x 6 3/4" W. 2nd item: Native American Southwest pictorial coiled basket, bowl form with geometric floral/tree and bird designs. 4 1/4" H x 8 1/4" W. Both early 20th century. Provenance: Property from the estate of Dorothy Louise Luhrs, PhD, (1910-1972), Archaeologist with University of New Mexico/School of American Research Field School, whose studies and research included the Una Via Chaco Canyon, NM, Largo Canyon, NM, Guatemala, Mexico, and the Hoopa Indian Reservation in northern California. Luhrs was also president of the Southwestern Anthropological Association from 1950-51. Condition: Both baskets in very good condition with overall general light wear. 1st basket with very minor paint splatter on rim and on side.
