Edwin Doege (American/Arkansas, 20th Century) oil on canvas abstract painting featuring bright colors and organic lines. Indiscernible shapes rendered in warm colors, which may suggest fire or the human form, stand out prominently against a cool blue background. Possible signature lower right, illegible. Crayon inscription reading "Doege 1959 Painting" and labels indicating that the painting won a purchase award at the 2nd Annual Delta Arts Exhibition in 1959 at the Arkansas Arts Center (now Arkansas Museum of Art), en verso. Housed in a painted wood frame. Sight: 36" H x 24" W. Framed: 37" H x 25" W.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with some wear to frame.
