Lot of 5 East TN Items: 3 Tennessee Wilder side chairs and 2 wooden dough bowls. 1ST ITEM: Pair of East Tennessee side chairs, attributed to Wilder family chair makers of Cocke County, TN. Maple posts and slats, hickory or ash stretchers.The bulbous ring turning on the back stiles above the seat are distinctive characteristics of Wilder Chairs. For a similar example, refer to The Art & Furniture of East Tennessee by Namuni Hale Young, p.26, figure 45. Condition – Traces of oldpaint, replaced seats, and breaks/losses to slat of one chair. One chair measures 36 3/8" H x 14" D x 18" W. The other 37" H x 14" D x 18" W. 2ND ITEM – Lot of two large wooden rectangular dough bowls. Condition – One bowl with considerable wear to ends, the other good condition. One measures 22 3/8" L, the other 24 1/2" L. All items 19th century.
