Anton Ebert (German, 1845-1896) oil on canvas, laid on board, oval portrait of a lady, heavily jeweled and wearing an ermine fur. Signed and dated middle right, "A. Ebert. Wien. 1869". Housed in newer gilt frame. Sight – 29 1/4" H x 23 1/4" W. Frame – 35" H x 29" W. Provenance: Purchased at Marshall Field & Company, Chicago, IL, 1941 by Edward S. Thompson, formerly of Evanston, IL, Columbus, Ohio and Maryville, TN, deceased 1979, by descent to the collection of present owner. CONDITION: Canvas laid down on board. Overall craquelure. Light grime.
