Two (2) Richard Clarke (American/Tennessee,1923-1997) watercolor paintings depicting surreal compositions with spheres. One in warm pink and brown tones and one in cool blue and grey tones. Each signed and dated "Clarke 80," lower right, and with the artist's label on backing. Both housed under plexiglass in metal frames. Both sights: 29 1/2" H x 21 5/8" W. Both frames: 30 1/4" H x 22 1/4" W. Biography: Richard Clarke was one of the early members of the University of Tennessee's art faculty. He is often associated with the "Knoxville Seven," a group of progressive artists connected to the University of Tennessee that included Robert Birdwell, C. Kermit Ewing, Joanna Higgs, Walter H. Stevens and Carl Sublett. He often found inspiration for his watercolor abstractions in the natural world around him.
CONDITION: Both overall very good condition.
