Brass mounted Pennsylvania style full stock rifle, approximately .40 caliber, lockplate engraved with a hunting dog and the name Joseph Golcher in a banner. Striped maple stock. Brass patchbox, trigger guard, ramrod thimbles, nosecap and lock escutcheon. Later brass plaque pinned to obverse of butt stock, engraved with spread eagle holding arrows in one talon, and a large shield with "Liberty" emblazoned above it. Philadelphia style trigger. 50"L. Circa 1830. Provenance: Estate of A. Welling LaGrone Jr., Nashville, Tenn. Condition: Good dark patina to stock, some pitting to lockplate, scattered wear and dents. Brass plaque inset into the stock appears to be later 19th century addition.
