American mahogany Sheraton work table, likely New York, possibly Duncan Phyfe school, mahogany with mahogany veneer and poplar secondary. Top with projecting rounded front corners, above rounded and reeded stiles flanking two graduated dovetailed drawers with flame mahogany veneer and round ring form brass pulls and escutcheons. Top drawer with fitted interior. Turned and tapered legs and feet joined by a shaped undertier forming a lower shelf. 29 1/2" H x 20 1/2" W x 16 1/4" D. Circa 1820. Purchased Polk Place Antiques, Nashville. A copy of the receipt is available to the winning bidder.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Raymond White, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: French polished surface. Some small losses to top edge veneer and scattered wear, old repaired break to right front leg. Replacements to glue blocks and undertier supports. Shrinkage crack to undertier.
