Two abstract oil on canvas paintings including Eyvind Oleson and Estrid Heerup. 1st item: Eyvind Oleson (Denmark, 1907-1995) abstract painting depicting a group of seven figures, one with devil horns, rendered with colorful, undulating brushstrokes and having areas of both heavy and light impasto. Signed "Eyv. Oleson '52" lower left. Housed in a simple wood frame. Sight: 33" H x 26 1/2" W. Framed: 33 1/8" H x 27 1/4" W. 2nd item: Exhibited Estrid Heerup (Denmark, 20th Century) oil on canvas large abstract painting rendered in bold brushstrokes of yellow, green, red, and orange paint, some of them dripping down the canvas. Signed "EH '87". Attribution and information about the artist on stretcher en verso. Housed in a simple wood frame. Sight: 57" H x 35 1/2" W. Framed: 58 1/4" H x 36 1/2" W. Note: Estrid Heerup is the daughter of artist Henry Heerup (Denmark, 1907-1993), a renowned modernist painter and sculptor.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Thomas Bechtel, Memphis, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall craquelure and some paint loss. Largest approximately 1/4". Three small holes in lower portion of canvas, and one in the upper, largest 1/2", some flea bite holes to border. One scratch in lower left corner approximately 8". Some buckling to canvas. Overall wear to frame. 2nd item: Overall good condition with light wear to frame.
