Large Southern Sheraton sugar chest, poplar and pine with old applied red wash. Rectangular top with half round molding, case with unusual cleated divider and deep ogee medial molding, above one dovetailed drawer having dividers with wooden pulls, turned legs ending in disc feet. 35 3/4" H x 37" W x 23" D. Likely Southern Tennessee or Northern Georgia/Alabama, 2nd quarter 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition with expected general wear. Some staining and abrasions to the top. Old repair visible to right lid/top hinge. Partial loss to front right foot. Lower drawer missing one interior divider.
