Philip Perkins (Tennessee, 1907-1970), "Kaleidoscope," oil on canvas surrealist influenced abstract painting featuring geometric, undulating forms rendered in shades of blue, red, and gray, intertwining against a gradient background. Signed "Perkins / 24 x 30" in graphite to canvas along stapled edge. Black satin finish metallic frame. Canvas – 30" x 24". Frame – 32 1/2" x 26".
PROVENANCE: The collection of Earl S. and Suzanne D. Swensson, Nashville, TN, purchased from Stanford Fine Art, Nashville in 1999.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Lined. Visual with scattered areas of light creasing to canvas. Small shallow intact blisters up to 3/4" diameter, primarily to lower left quadrant. Scattered tiny spots of blooming varnish and abrasions, including a 1/12" abrasion at center. Blacklight: Overall good condition, touch-ups to bottom, center and upper left quadrant.
