1st item: Late 18th C. American map of Georgia, extending to Mississippi with the Southern part of "Tennassee ", terminating at the Mississippi River. Depicts Natchez and "Alibama" (current day Alabama is depicted as "West Florida"), along with other Native American named villages. Copperplate engraving without color, source unknown, likely published in Philadelphia, between Tennessee's admission to the Union in 1796 and Mississippi becoming a territory in 1798. Adhered to mat, under glass in a line inlaid wood frame. Sheet 6 1/4" x 7 1/2". Frame – 8 3/4"H x 11"W. <br/><br/>2nd item: 1846 map, SKETCH OF THE CHEROKEE COUNTRY from Bancroft's TN, NC, GA, unframed, 9 1/2" x 5 1/2", taken from book. <br/><br/>3rd item: Small undated, unsigned map of Tennessee, likely by Carey, 1816 (repaired tear down center), 7" x 8". <br/><br/>4th item: Indian Removal era pamphlet of an 1834 report to Congress on the Southern Boundary of Tennessee by Cave Johnson (including an extract of a letter from John Bell, surveyor of the Chickasaw lands, July 13, 1833; edge chipping, staining. <br/><br/>5th item: 18th century Encyclopedia excerpt with one of the early printed descriptions of Tennessee (on laid paper; separated at seam, source unknown). <br/><br/>6th item: 1836 Burr Atlas map of Kentucky and Tennessee, 12 1/2" x 15" (edge tears, fading). <br/><br/>7th-10th items: 4 undated/unsigned maps of TN and KY, two having hand coloring. <br/><br/>11th-12th items: two (2) Baldwin & Gradock 1833 maps of Georgia and surrounding states (1 map includes West Tennessee and the Chickasaw Territory, now Mississippi, repaired). Items range in size from 5 1/2" to 9 1/4" to 14" x 16".
