A near pair of two (2) English George II sterling silver mugs, each of baluster form on spreading feet with leaf-capped double C-scroll handles, including one (1) mug with gilt interior having a script monogram to exterior, IP monogram to handle, and date mark for 1748 (4 3/4" H), and one (1) with plain interior and exterior having date mark for 1749 ) (5" H). Both hallmarked with identical unattributed maker's mark, London. Combined weight: 24.1 oz troy.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville, TN collection.
CONDITION: Mug with gilt interior has an area of scratching to interior, near rim, and two possible tiny repairs to each side of the scratched area. Both with scattered minor scratches, dents, and 20th century monogram numbers 305 or 307 to exterior.
