Margaret Wehrley (Wisconsin, 20th c.) oil on canvas painting entitled “The Terrace,” depicting a courtyard space inside a park where people are gathered and seated at outdoor tables shaded by umbrellas. The paint’s texture and the direction of the brush strokes provide a swirling effect that obscures the background and provides depth to the autumn canopy in the top half of the work. Signed “WEHRLEY,” lower left, and inscribed THE TERRACE (U. OF WIS. UNION) en verso. Sight: 23 1/2″W X 17 1/2″H. Frame: 28″W X 22″H.
CONDITION: Painting overall very good condition. The frame is in good condition with scattered shallow abrasions.
