Eleanor McAdoo Wiley (TN, 1876-1977) oil on canvas impressionist city scene depicting Church Street in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee as seen from White Avenue. A large white house is in the right foreground with numerous downtown structures visible in the background, including United Methodist Church. Unsigned. Housed in a carved wood frame. Sight: 21 1/4″ H x 19 1/2″ W. Framed: 26 1/8″ H x 24 1/4″ W. Biography: Tennessee artist Eleanor McAdoo Wiley (1876-1977) studied art at the University of Tennessee and Stevens Art School in Gatlinburg, TN. She was a founder of the Dulin Gallery of Art in Knoxville and member of the Nicholson Art League.
PROVENANCE: Originally purchased from the estate of Willia Sellers McKinney.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
