Department of Interior document regarding the Purity of Blood for Chippewa Indians. Hand-written document dated "August 5th, 1870" from the Department of the Interior, Office of Indian Affairs regarding the granting of land to Chippewa Indians set aside during the treaty between the United States and the Lake Superior Chippewas September 30, 1854. This document appoints a special agent and defines how applicants must prove their Chippewa heritage. The document iswritten on 8 pages of ruled paper (8-1/8" W x 12-5/8" H) and bound across the top by 3 grommets. Good condition.
