Avraham Binder (Poland-Israel, 1906-2001) oil on canvas, "Street in Jaffa," contemporary cityscape titled, signed lower left. Murray S. Greenfield Gallery, New York, stamp en verso. Biography: Avrahim Binder, also known as Abraham Binder, was born in Vilna in 1910 and emigrated with his family to Palestine in the late 1920s. He studied at the Bezalel Art School in Jerusalem. Binder is best known for his urban landscapes. His work is in the collection of the Israeli government and several Israeli museums. Provenance: the collection of Stephen and Lisa Steiner Small, Nashville, Tennessee. Condition: Couple of scattered flakes (1/8" and smaller), possible small stain or paint drip at lower right.
