Carlo Canevari (Italy, 1922-1996) oil on panel, "At the Beach". Surrealist painting of two nuns walking on a beach, past a man who is wearing a striped swimsuit and under an umbrella. Signed lower right and housed in a carved wood frame with gilt rabbet edge. 7-1/2" x 13" sight, 15" x 24" framed. Provenance: the collection of Stephen and Lisa Steiner Small, Nashville, Tennessee, purchased Frank. J. Oehlschlaeger Galleries, 1966 (receipt retained).
