Biography (courtesy Askart: The Artists' Bluebook): Dorus Arts' first exhibition was in 1929 in De Waag building in Nijmegen. the Netherlands. A year later he was awarded an honorary medal from the city council. Between 1930 and 1961, his landscapes, beach scenes and twilight and moonlight panoramas became famous throughout the Netherlands and in Germany, as well as in the United States and Canada. In 1955, art dealers in Montreal arranged his first exhibition in North America, the success of which prompted him to move with his family to Canada. In 1961 he died in Montreal. Ten years later, the Nijmegen Museum exhibited an overview of his work. Provenance: Estate of Bill Zarnon, Gatlinburg, Tenn. Condition: Very good condition. Minor surface grime.
