Chadbourne (Massachusetts, 1901-1971) oil marine paintings. 1st item: Oil on canvas painting depicting two ships and a tug boat docked along two wooden piers with remnants of snow, one having a small, wooden rowboat tied on it. Additional vessels are docked along the edge of the bay in the background, beneath a hazy sky. Signed in red " L. E. Chadbourne" lower left. Grogan & Company sticker label affixed, en verso. Housed with wooden liner in a speckled, gray-painted wooden frame. Sight: 19 1/4" H x 23 1/4" W. Framed: 25 1/4" H x 29 1/4" W. 2nd item: Oil on canvasboard painting depicting a ship and two tug boats docked along two wooden piers with an additional ship drifting behind the docked vessels, rendered in a soft pink light. Numerous ships dot the bay at the horizon with a distant coast visible in the background, beneath a hazy sky. Signed "L. E. Chadbourne" lower right. Grogan & Company and numbered sticker labels affixed, en verso. Housed with a canvas mat in a molded giltwood frame with bead course sight edge. Sight: 15 3/8" H x 19 3/8" W. Framed: 21 7/8" H x 25 7/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with slight stretcher marks to top edge and two slight abraisions to paint layer, largest measuring 3 1/2" L. 2nd item: Overall good condition with slight scattered surface abrasion, primarily to lower left edge.
