Scott Patrick Burdick (American/Illinois/North Carolina) oil on board painting depicting a young Native American woman wearing a turquoise earring, in bust length profile, against a dark indistinct background. Signed lower left. Giltwood frame with carved corner decorations. Sight – 13"H x 10"W. Frame – 23"H x 20"W. Biography: "Raised in Chicago, Scott Burdick studied at the American Academy of Art on scholarship when he was still in high school, and from that time has been committed to the importance of drawing. In the mid-1980s, he began painting informally with Richard Schmid at the Palette & Chisel Club, a mansion converted into studio space by Art Institute students. There he met his future wife, artist Susan Lyon. Burdick briefly did illustration but was successful fairly early as a fine artist. Burdick has done contract work for Stephen Spielberg in Hollywood including an animated feature. He and Susan live and have studios near Winston, North Carolina."
