A complete set of 20 framed lithographs from Henri Matisse's "Jazz" series portfolio published by George Braziller for the Museum of Modern Art in 1983 (a facsimile of the 1947 Teriade for Editions Verve publication). All matted and housed under glass in metal frames except "Icarus," plate VIII, and "The Swimmer in the Tank," plate XII, without glass. 10 items: Sight: 15 1/4" H x 23 1/2" W; Framed: 22 1/4" H x 30 1/4" W. 10 items: Sight: 15 1/4" H x 23 1/2" W; Framed: 20 1/4" H x 28 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Guardsmark Collection, Memphis, TN. These prints were used to decorate offices throughout the Guardsmark headquarters, which was noted for its Mid-Century Modern furniture and art. 2 other framed sets were sold in our July 2021 and Jan. 2022 auctions.
CONDITION: "Icarus" with 2 1/2" L scratch to left of figure's hips and pinpoint abrasions to upper right corner. "The Clown" frontispiece in frame with cracked glass, lower right corner. Missing glass on "Icarus" and "Swimmer in the Tank," plates VIII and XII.
