Robert James Watson (Arizona/California, 1923-2004) Surrealist oil on canvas painting entitled "Rendevous" depicting two figures conversing in a sparse, Mission-style courtyard. Signed lower right and titled and inscribed "Watson" to back of stretcher. With additional title and attribution on sticker affixed to verso. Housed in a grey wooden frame with gilt fillet. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W. Frame: 11" H x 13" W.
CONDITION: Stretcher marks visible from front of canvas. Scattered retouching and areas of overpainting in sky and in space between figures, largest 1 1/4" H x 3 1/3" W, plus superficial grime. Liquid stain visible en verso. Minor abrasions to frame.
