1st-2nd Items: Group of two (2) Native American Chitimacha rivercane baskets, including one (1) Faye Stouff (Chitimacha and American, active mid-20th century) small square sifting basket, signed and dated on the base "Faye Stouff 1977", and one (1) basket in the "little fish" and "cow's eye" pattern with red and brown dyed weavers, signed and dated on the base "Chief Emille & Faye Stouff, 1976". Ranging in size from 2 3/4" H x 10" W to 5" H x 10 3/4" W. Both baskets 20th century. Note: Faye Stouff was married to Emile Stouff, who was Chief of the Chitimachas of Charenton, Louisiana, from 1948 to 1968. 3rd item: Native American Chitimacha single weave rivercane cownose form basket woven in the bird's eye pattern with dyed weavers. 5 1/2" H x 7" W. Early 20th century. 4th item: Native American Chitimacha single weave rivercane tray form basket woven in the center with bird's eye and star patterns with dyed weavers. 2" H x 7 5/8" W. 20th century.
CONDITION: 1st item: Sifting basket with minor wear to one area of rim, approx. 2". 2nd basket overall good condition. 3rd-4rth items: Tray basket in excellent condition. Cow nose basket with some losses to weavers near the front center and to the back near hanging opening.
