William Charles Palmer (American/Canadian, 1906 – 1987) abstract winter landscape titled "Moods of Winter, Sunset" depicting an open field with bare trees in the foregound, one lone structure in the distance and a bright red sunset. Signed faintly in lower central margin "William C Palmer". Pencil titled, signed and dated 1961 en verso of board. Additional pencil inscriptions, including gallery to the frame. Housed in a parcel gilt and brown wood frame with beveled linen liner. Sight: 15 1/2" H x 19 1/2" W. Framed: 26 1/4" H x 30 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Ann H. Wells, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Painting in overall good condition, slightly loose in frame. Linen liner with area of dampstaining lower left, frame with minor scattered abrasions.
