Asian hanging scroll, ink and color on silk, monumental landscape scene with serene pagodas nestled in mountains and birds soaring throughout; mountains created with long hemp fiber and axe-cut brush strokes typical of period; rich green, blue, and red pigments for mountains, pagoda, and sun; probably influence of Yuan, Song, and Tang Dynasty seen in color, style, and brushwork. Signature and Seal in bottom right corner. Stored in wooden box with calligraphy on surface. Scroll – 73 1/4" H x 19 3/4" W. Image – 46 3/4" H x 14 1/2" W. Box – 2 1/4" H x 22 1/2" W x 3" D. Chinese, Late 19th/Early 20th century. CONDITION: Scroll in very good condition, some wear to back, 2" tear at top. Box has normal signs of shelf wear and indentations.
