James Crawford Thom (New Jersey/New York/England/France, 1835-1898) oil on board Hudson River School style landscape genre painting depicting two children, dressed in peasant style clothing, fishing in a creek near a bridge surrounded by forestry under a cloudy blue sky. Signed "J. C. Thom" lower right. Housed in a period giltwood frame with reed and foliate decoration. Sight: 10 1/4" H x 8 1/4" W. Framed: 18 1/4" H x 16 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Harvey and Leslie Ann Phillips, Vonore, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Painting in overall good condition, is displaced in frame. Examined under UV light, no visible retouching noted. Frame with cracking and loss to gilt decoration on corners, and repaired corners.
