Harold Harrington Betts (American, 1881-1951) oil on canvas painting, possibly an illustration, depicting a hunter with a rifle over his shoulder, accompanied by three dogs, walking at dusk or dawn along a street into the light of an open barn door. Footprints are visible in the snow beneath the subjects' feet, and faint smoke billows upwards through the door, while light glows from a handful of nearby buildings and from the tips of mountains in the background. Signed "H. H. Betts" lower left. Unframed. A handwritten card en verso with artist information, stating the painting was purchased from art dealer Woody Straub Aug. 7, 1997. 34" H x 39" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with slight abrasion to paint surface at the center-right edge measuring 3/4" H x 2 1/2" W.
